TORONTO, Oct. 8 /CNW/ – The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) host their 91st Annual Meeting in Toronto from October 14-17, 2009. More than 5,000 registrants, including oral and maxillofacial surgeons from the United States and Canada, will convene at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) for the event.
“With 90% of attendees coming in from the US or other International locations, Toronto is a wonderfully appropriate cosmopolitan city for our Annual Meeting,” said R. Lynn White, DDS, and President of AAOMS. “It’s also the home of our event co-sponsor, the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.”
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons care for patients with problem wisdom teeth, facial pain, and misaligned jaws. They place dental implants, care for patients with oral cancer, tumors and cysts of the jaws, and perform facial cosmetic surgery. By participating in the AAOMS Annual meeting, oral and maxillofacial surgeons and their staff will have the opportunity to conduct association business, discuss surgical procedures, share knowledge and meet with dental industry suppliers.
“Toronto is indeed one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world; a place where international ideas intersect with Canadian culture. It’s the perfect backdrop for an educational event of this caliber,” said Barry Smith, President & CEO of the MTCC. “And during their time here, participants in the AAOMS Annual Meeting will benefit the city in return: supporting the local economy with $8.1 million in visitor spending.”
