Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa has vastly outperformed the local market with a 16.6 per cent growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR), more than double its competitors according to recent research.

Research firm Deloitte has suggested on average, Manchester hotels have experienced a decline of 16.3 per cent in RevPAR during the first three quarters of 2009. However, bucking the trend is the 338 bedroom Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa which finished its 2009 financial year (in September) with total sales growing year on year by 28 per cent, profits up by 38 per cent, all driven by a strong performance in occupancy which increased by 18 per cent.

Now trading in its first quarter of the new financial year the hotel shows no signs of relenting on last year’s success with RevPAR up by 15.6 per cent year on year and total sales up 8.5 per centfor 2010.

Commenting on the impressive figures achieved by the hotel, Adam Bell, Business Development Manager believes; “The quality of the bedrooms, dedicated meeting space and spa are probably the best standard in Manchester at this time.  However, our employees remain the headlines of this business. We have assembled a team of talented individuals that have the desire and passion to be the best.”

Revenue growth has not been the only success of 2009 for the city centre hotel, customer satisfaction has grown significantly, reaching 90 per cent on TripAdvisor.  Staff satisfaction is also high, with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts’ 2009 internal staff survey recording the highest result for the Manchester hotel since opening in 2007 and staff turnover recorded at its lowest in 2009.

Steve Dunford, General Manager at Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa concludes; “We work tirelessly to ensure that we offer our customers value for money in all our services.  The results of last year and our position in the first quarter vindicate our cautious approach to the challenging trading conditions. By finding new sources of revenue and continuing to invest in our most important asset; our team, shows our business is in good shape”
