Seminars will cover four main topics: the meetings industry in selected European national markets, small business development and growth, conference organisation techniques and experiential communication.
4 MARCH 2010 – BTC, the Italian trade show for the meetings, incentives, conferences, events and business travel industry – to be held on 1-2 July in Rimini –, is enhancing its educational content programme, which will cover a wide
range of topics to address the areas of industry debate and meet the needs of a diversified public.
“We believe that the job of a show like BTC should go beyond just selling exhibition space”, says Exhibition Manager Gabriella Ghigi. “We want to create the ideal conditions for doing business, and to meet this objective, we must provide
professional education, be creative, facilitate networking and personal meetings between buyers and exhibitors, and introduce innovation into the exhibition format”.
Educational seminars will fall into four main subject areas:
The meetings industry in Europe. The specific features of national markets.
Organised by BTC and MPI Europe, these seminars will explore the characteristics
and trends of the meetings industries of selected European countries, and provide
useful advice on developing business in these areas.
Small businesses are growing. Organised by Italcongressi (Italian association
of conference organisers and suppliers), the seminars will explore case histories
presenting financial tools and development strategies adopted also in other sectors
that may be used to drive growth for meetings industry companies.
The organiser’s ABC. Seminars on meeting organisation techniques.
Organised by Federcongressi (the federation of Italian industry associations), these
seminars are designed for participants who promote and organise events, in
corporate organisations or agencies, but whose background lies in communication
or marketing, and who therefore require specific training on meeting management
and logistics.
Communicate with… Organised with communications agency Cabrini Associati,
these practical seminars will focus on sensory and experiential communication
devices (colours, music, projections, smells, theatre) and on how to use them in
meetings and events.
In line with BTC’s call Be there to demonstrate, the seminars will this year be
supplemented by a new pre-show initiative: on the afternoon of Wednesday 30
June, the day before BTC opens, an “experimental” activity dedicated to hosted
buyers and exhibitors will be held to encourage them to get to know each other
personally, talk, and start to work together: it will be a highly interactive
workshop, with strong educational content, which will allow participants to establish
connections that can be developed into fruitful relationships during and after the
show. The programme of the activity will be announced soon.
From this year, participants can register for seminars online: another innovation
that will enable buyers and exhibitors to better manage their diaries, including in
them the seminars of interest and thereby avoiding overlapping with pre-scheduled
appointments.
In terms of innovation in the exhibition format, the BTC team is available to offer
advice to exhibitors on how to use their stands to create a truly experiential space,
where buyers can “live” the product or service offered, even if only in a detail.
As part of its partnership with MPI Europe, BTC was a sponsor of EMEC 2010,
the European Meetings and Events Conference held in Malaga.
