By the occasion of International Year of Biodiversity (2010), Gnomon Performance SA in its effort to contribute for a greener environment, as of March 1st has assigned as Media & Communication sponsor for the Green Project Africa 2010.During the months of July & August 2010, (immediate following to World Cup Finals in South Africa), Green Project will operate a mission “Green Project Africa: Cape Town-Athens: ‘from the streets of water to the streets of energy’ aiming to highlight the practices of green energy in water management and to track the methods of renewable energy in local communities.
Green Projects’ scope is to record the local communities traditional & modern practices in energy saving, the use of renewable methods, as well the ongoing initiatives from UNESCO, UNDP, EU that have been scheduled for Africa.
With the assistance of local authorities, Green Project team will call to involve local communities in digital environmental art exhibitions, workshops’ seminars, renewable energy applications (eg solar cookers, irrigation canals, etc.), intending to introduce the conceptual clean energy, modules to abort from energy poverty, as well living conditions improvement & biodiversity protection.
In a global effort to tackle climate change, the Green Project will cover 14.000klms of African water roads along the rivers Okavango, Zambezi & Nile, the lakes Tanganyika, Malawi & Victoria, from the countries of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt, Cyprus & Greece.
