DUBAI, U.A.E. 6th April 2010: Emphasising it’s commitment to the UAE, Emirates has become the Official Carrier for the UAE Pavilion at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China.
Officially signing the pledge of support in Abu Dhabi this week, Emirates will help to transport an estimated 500 representatives from various UAE Government Departments to the World Exposition in Shanghai. The agreement will be in place for the duration of Expo 2010, from May to October 2010.
Of the signing Khalid bel Jaflah, Emirates’ Vice President Commercial Operations UAE said: “As the largest international airline in the UAE, Emirates remains committed to supporting any initiative that further promotes and educates the world about this remarkable country. The UAE continues to draw the interest of international visitors eager to experience our warm Arabian hospitality and world class amenities, and we are dedicated to supporting this any way that we can.
“We are honoured to be the Official Carrier for the UAE Pavilion at this exciting event and wish them every success during their exhibition.”
Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2010, Mr Salem Al Ameri, welcomed Emirates’ contribution and stated that the UAE Pavilion is strongly focused on promoting visits to the UAE. “The UAE Government has shown great vision in its participation at Expo 2010 and we are confident that its commitment will be justified,” added Mr Al Ameri.
Over 70 million people from around the world are expected to attend the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China between May and October 2010.
Emirates currently operates 14 weekly flights to Shanghai from Dubai.
