From early May through October 20 sculptured-donkeys will be an outdoor exhibition of sculpture art, patterned like Cow Parade of Athens, adjusted to Santorini. Twenty artists associated with Santorini, worked all winter with imagination and passion on the sculptured-donkeys in order to show the artistic side of this unique island. The result is amazing! The sculptures are scattered in selected locations throughout the island, giving a different color on the streets and reminding everyone of the tremendous contribution that the faithful friend of the island.

The sculptures are life size (1m x 1.43m) and made of fiberglass Quad coating, made by the factory manufactured and Cow Parade cows. The works of artists will be protected by a special anti-graffiti paint and mounted on cement bases.

At the end of the season all the works will be auctioned and proceeds from the event will be offered for even better protection of older horses, who is treating the Thira Municipality in Karterados.

The 20 artists participating in Santorini Donkey Republic 2010 are: Christophoros Asimis, Marcos Veni,os, Giorgos Galanopoulos, Maria-Sophia Gellou, Irene Drossou, Dimitris and Apollon Koliousis, Alithini, Dimitris Bellos, Cybele Mousouri, Andreas Makaris, Evangelos Roussos, Elias Vlavianos, Politimi Biliona, Michalis Karamolegos, George Stronis, Annie Neve, Nikos Delendas, Lefteris Koronios, Irene Kampouropoulou and Katerina Ioannidou.

The entire effort is supported by many organizations of the island and the organizer is Panos Katsimpas of the creative agency WELCOME.
