Posidonia 2010 exhibitors have been invited to donate to Greek maritime educational institutions any equipment, machinery or software they plan to showcase at the Hellenikon Exhibition Centre this June in a Union of Greek Shipowners (UGS) initiative designed to up the training standards of the next generation of sea going officers. “The lack of skilled seamanship is one of the biggest problems the shipping industry faces today and we believe that it is our obligation to support maritime educational institutions. As today’s ships become more sophisticated, demand for skilled personnel increases and it is up to our industry to keep up with technological progress.” said Theodore Veniamis, President, Union of Greek Shipowners.
The UGS will guarantee that all donations will be put to use and that each contributing exhibitor will be given credit in a number of ways.
Pilgrim International is the first company to join the UGS initiative for the support of Greek maritime educational institutions, by donating their hydraulic fastener “Radial Fit Bolt Assembly” for this purpose.
