4 New Latin Quarter Properties in Paris

Responding to requests from our Paris guests,

Coach House Rentals has taken on 4 new Paris rentals – all in the fabled Latin quarter. This neighbourhood takes its name from the Sorbonne, where Latin was the common tongue for all students during the Middle Ages. The neighbourhood has the feel of a small village and students mix freely with professionals in its winding streets. The rue Mouffetard is a primary artery where shops, international restaurants and student bars and cafés are found.

Our new, and available for summer rentals, Latin Quarter properties are:

• rue Gay-Lussac (Ref: PGLC)– sleeps 4, €150 ($190) per night
Excellent value in the heart of the Latin Quarter, this 2 (or is it 3?) bedroom apartment is situated only minutes away from the Jardin de Luxembourg, Panthéon, rue Mouffetard and the Sorbonne. It is the ideal base from which to explore one of the most historically rich areas of Paris.

• rue Gracieuse (Ref: PGCE) – sleeps 3, €180 ($225) per night
Cultural paradise in the heart of intellectual Paris. The owner of this apartment being a former Director of Arts and Culture at Unesco and personal friend of Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoire, its decoration reflects the life of a well travelled, cultured woman who’s life has been dedicated to literature and the arts. Books and painting adorn the walls and objects from around the world occupy the mantelpieces.

• boulevard Port Royale (Ref: PPRY) – sleeps 4, €195 ($245)
per night
This charming 2 bedroom apartment is located in the Latin Quarter, near the rue Mouffetard, one of the city’s oldest streets. For generations it was known as one of the great market streets of Paris. The market tradition remains to this day and every morning you will find fruit and vegetable stalls, shops selling fine cheeses and wines, and traditional market cafés.

• rue Saint Jacques (Ref: PSJQ)– sleeps 7, €345 ($430) per
night
This 4 bedroom apartment has all the charm and artistic colour that one would expect from a property located in the heart of the Latin Quarter. The building dates back to 1783, before the French revolution, and is situated on the boundary of Lutéce (old Paris). It is owned by an opera singer who has decorated the apartment immaculately with the idea of giving each room its individual character.

Exchange Rates

The other good news is that a few days ago the $/€ rate hit a four year high, with one euro now costing only $1.24, making Paris and Rome much more affordable than they have been for a very long time.

Meanwhile in Britain the pound continues to slide against the dollar, with one pound currently costing just $1.44 making London a bargain – 30% cheaper than it was two years ago!
