EIBTM is to produce a new piece of research that surveys Planners, Tourist Offices and Convention Bureaux about their business over the past twelve months, their challenges, future perceptions, opportunities, influences of choice of location and business predictions for the next 12 months.

Using the RTE meeting’s portfolio global database, the Planner respondents will also help to build a picture of preferred cities and countries where they have planned events in the last year, also identifying their choices of new destinations and the factors that influenced them.

The findings will complement the annual Industry Trends Report presented by Rob Davidson, Senior Lecturer in Business Travel and Tourism at The University of Westminster in London and EIBTM Industry Analyst.

The 2010 Industry Trends research, to be presented on Day 1 and Day 3 of EIBTM will provide its annual global review of the sector which last year highlighted the signs of the global economic recovery, the emergence of new markets, trends in technology, CSR and an overall look at the outlook for the meetings industry.

“The production and delivery of high quality and impactful industry research is essential for all our stakeholders. The EIBTM Industry Trends Report has been produced annually since 2004 and continuously attracts a full house when it is presented at EIBTM. By introducing this second qualitative study we will add a richness to the report at a time when business leaders around the world are looking for insight on which to base their strategic planning decisions. Once again, EIBTM is taking a leading position in this crucial activity and providing added value for our customers”, commented Graeme Barnett, EIBTM Event Director.

The names of all survey participants will be entered into a lottery and the winner will be offered a ‘Day of Davidson’.

“The idea is that I will give a full day of my time to do something that is useful to the winner and/or his/her company. For example, I could speak at a conference; I could talk to staff on new trends in the conference and events industry; I could run a training course; or work on a research project”, said Davidson.
