Madrid, October 2010. Within the world of meetings, congresses and conventions, those events linked to the fields of medicine and pharmaceuticals are among the most highly valued, both due to their prestige and the economic impact they have on the cities in which they take place. In this respect, IFEMA stands out for providing an habitual venue for a number of highly prestigious international meetings of this kind, which confirms its status as one of the leading European fair organisations in this respect.
Throughout the present year 2010, specifically between 2nd and 4th June last, IFEMA hosted the staging of the Eleventh EFORT Congress, organised by the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. The aim of this Federation is to promote the mobility, muscular-skeletal health and quality of life of its patients. In this respect, the exchange of experiences and scientific knowledge is considered to be essential when it comes to ensuring satisfactory progress within the field. Founded back in 1991 in Italy, the Federation today brings together some 40 associations from its 38 member countries, alongside 6 associated scientific member bodies.

For its part, EULAR, the European League Against Rheumatism, has chosen Feria de Madrid as the venue for its Annual Congress in June 2013. This Congress, which will bring together some 18,000 surgeons, patients, scientists and professionals from the medical and pharmaceutical industries, is the most important event of its kind whose staging has been confirmed over the next few years. The Congress will occupy three halls at IFEMA, in addition to the North Convention Centre, and it is likely to have a considerable economic impact on the entire city.
