For the second time in succession the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf has captured first place in the venue study carried out by HV-Magazin, a business journal devoted to AGM organisation. Jointly with the CCH Congress Center Hamburg, the CCD tops the list of convention centres most popularly chosen to host annual general meetings throughout Germany.
As in previous years, the latest study covers all 345 companies that belonged to Deutsche Börse’s Prime Standard – the German stock exchange segment with the most stringent transparency requirements – at the time the survey was conducted. The date and venue for this year’s ordinary general meetings of the stock corporations listed there were established. For the purposes of the survey the host venues are divided into five different categories: “Convention Centres”, “Meeting and Conference Premises”, “Arenas and Halls”, “Hotels” and “Other AGM premises”.
Most big annual general meetings take place in the category “Convention Centres”. With capacities for functions attracting up to 15,000 people, the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf can accommodate the really big German corporate players. In 2010 the two DAX companies Henkel and Metro and four companies listed in the MDAX were just some of those to hold their shareholders’ meetings in the CCD. Alongside the nine Prime Standard stock corporations included in the HV-Magazin survey, another seven companies opted this year for the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf as the venue for their AGMs. All told, in 2010 the convention centre in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital thus housed 16 ordinary general meetings.
