VisitBrighton celebrates after securing the return of the Liberal Democrats Conference in September 2012, which is expected to see 8,000 delegates convene in the city, injecting an estimated £10m into the local economy.
The win further underlines the city’s popularity as a stage for political conferences having hosted both the Labour Party and Green Party Annual Conferences and the Conservative Spring Forum all in the last 18 months.

The conference will be held at the newly refurbished Brighton Centre which has undergone a £1million refurbishment focusing on improving the public areas of the venue throughout. This included an upgrade to the existing breakout areas, the conference centre’s Skyline restaurant, new signage throughout and the addition of alfresco coffee shops.
Council leader Mary Mears said: “Since the Liberal Democrats last visited in 2007 there has been a significant increase in bars, restaurants and entertainment for conference delegates across the city. The council has also spent £1m improving the Brighton Centre, so they should find it more comfortable.”
