Leading conference industry figures including senior agency and corporate buyers will come together in November to debate the question ‘what makes a perfect conference destination?

Taking place at the NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau’s Discover NewcastleGateshead showcase event (16th November) the forum will discuss the core factors outside of location, accessibility and price that have the most impact on delegate choice. This will include rating the importance placed on a delegate welcome, past experience in hosting events and brand engagement. In addition, the group will look at what makes a destination individual, from its cultural assets to sporting passion, history, heritage and people.

For NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, these findings will be further supported by delegates and media attending the event, who will have the opportunity to comment on proposals for the creation of a new International Conference and Exhibition Centre (ICEC) in the North West.

Jessica Roberts, Head of Business Tourism at NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau explained; “Over the past decade, well documented regeneration has taken place in the destination and as a result of the level of expertise we have gained, NewcastleGateshead has become a first class place for hosting meetings and events.”

“We’re already recognised as an accessible and good value for money destination, but by taking on board the knowledge of our industry colleagues and some of the most senior buyers and figureheads in the sector, we can assess what shape the ‘twin cities’ should be taking moving into the next ten years to ensure we continue to exceed the expectations of conference and event organisers.”

Discover NewcastleGateshead, held at Lawrence Hall, Royal Horticultural Halls, will feature over 25 exhibitors from across North East England and takes place on 16 November from 16:00.The event will culminate in an exclusive performance by the comedian Sarah Millican.
