On 31 October the new low-cost pier at Copenhagen Airport, the CPH Go, will open for passengers. CPH Go will be the first European airport with differentiated charges.
CPH is the first airport in Europe to receive approval of differentiated charges by expanding the airport to include a new, dedicated low-cost pier. Other airports have built separate new terminals for low-cost carriers, which makes the process both more expensive and more complicated.
EasyJet
easyJet will be the first airline to change from the existing terminals toCPH Go. easyJet is today the fourth largest customer at CPH after SAS, Norwegian and Cimber Sterling.
“We have worked closely together with Copenhagen Airport on the development of CPH Go, and we are very pleased that CPH has used our input in the design and processes. We therefore look forward to becoming the first airline to start using the facilities,” said Thomas Haagensen, easyJet’s Regional Manager, Northern Europe.
All charges adjusted
Together with the introduction of differentiated charges, all charges at Copenhagen Airport have been adjusted, including a general reduction of the passenger charge.
A green take off
In addition to the changes in passenger charges, the agreement also includes a new charge based on aircraft emissions of nitrogen oxide (NOx), designed to promote the use of more environmentally friendly aircraft. Carriers using the most environmentally friendly aircraft and engines will now pay a slightly lower take-off charge.
