The greens meetings not only as an Anglo-Saxon experience: Italy, too, is beginning to move towards a sustainable approach.

The 11th National Congress of Pneumology (UIP 2010), which was held in late October in Milan, is an example of how even the world of the meetings can make a contribution to the issue of environment and social responsibility.

The relationship between respiratory health and air quality is certainly very strong, not by chance that the increase in allergy diseases in recent years was largely caused by a significant increase in air pollution (CO2, particulates, etc.).

The determination of the President of Congress and the Board, together with the sensitivity of AIM Group, has meant that the conference was characterized by significant “green” initiatives.

First, actions have been activated to minimize the paper through the use of on-line procedures and electronic devices, and where the press was strictly necessary was used recycled paper.

Bags made of natural materials (jute instead of plastic), recyclable material pens, recycled polyester laces for the badges, cardboard poster panels instead of plastic laminated ones, car pooling as a transfers solution…: the congress has exposed its green soul and the delegates have appreciated the initiative.

Finally, the congress has maintained an initiative of great social sensitivity: forty trees used in the exhibition were donated to the municipality and will be planted in Argelati Park, Milan.

A concrete contribution of pulmonary Italian doctors to the city air quality and to the welfare of the citizens .
