London, November 2010 – „Just imagine that you were able to make a wish and name a famous personality with whom you would like to spend a night in a hotel – whom would you choose?“ hotel.info, the free online hotel reservation service with more than 210,000 hotels available globally, posed just this question to its European customers. The men and women to whom this question was put could either select a modern celebrity from amongst the “stars” or could choose a personality from history in order to relieve the boredom of their lonely hotel room.

The result: people from the world of films are at the top of the list for both men and women. However male and female personalities from the world of politics and history also did well.

Julia Roberts just came first in the listing with 19.5 % in the world of men where the choice was for prominent women. Pretty Woman pushed the Lara Croft actress Angelina Jolie into second place with 16.5 %. Catherine Zeta-Jones came third with 15.5 %. Jessica Alba, the rising star who is well-known for her roles in the much discussed and controversial film „Sin City“, came some way behind the Top 3 with only 10 %. Somewhat surprisingly very well-known (and infamous) personalities such as Madonna or Lady Gaga only achieved a middle or low ranking on the “international men’s table”.

Amongst the female customers of hotel.info the outright winner was a former TV doctor famous for his charm: George Clooney obtained almost 24% of the female votes and thus guaranteed his leading position as the overall favourite. Richard Gere however also won a lot of support amongst the ladies. The US film actor that turned to Buddhism in the 1990’s won over more than 13% of the female participants, landing him in second place. Johnny Depp came third. This character actor best known as an extravagent pirate gained 12% of the ladies’ votes as the one with whom they would most like to share a hotel room.

Amongst the historical personalities that were preferred by both men and women as a room partner were Raquel Welch with more than 17.5 % in first place for the men, just in front of Romy Schneider, who obtained just under 17 % of the votes. Even the historic character Cleopatra achieved a two digit result.

The actor James Dean gained first place amongst the European ladies with 17 %, representing favourites from former days, but even personalities from politics and history scored well here. Leonardo Da Vinci obtained 16.5 % and John F. Kennedy 10% of the votes from the hotel.info female customers. The philosopher Karl Marx did not score very highly with less than 2.5 % female admirers, maybe because of his controversial opinions and beliefs or perhaps, more likely, that he does not fit the modern picture of the ideal man.
