John Thompson has been appointed as executive director of Historic Conference Centres of Europe (HCCE), the only international association of historic conference centres in the world, from 1st December 2010.
With a wide ranging career including engineering, sales and marketing, customer service and IT, John has most recently been responsible for membership development, as company secretary for one of the UK’s oldest associations.
John Thompson says: “I am honoured and very much looking forward to working with HCCE, taking on this rewarding challenge which lies ahead of me. HCCE has enjoyed a long period of successful development and my role will focus on continuing to build upon this. Whilst ensuring there is stability and consistency, I look forward to reviewing communications and relationships within the industry.
He continues: “With such a wide variety of opportunities including, exhibitions, advertising, public relations, marketing, e-newsletters, the website and social media, the possibilities are endless. It is therefore important that there is a clear vision and strategic plan which I will define and work to achieve across the next 12 months.”
Michael Sharp, president of HCCE adds: ” It is a pleasure to have John join HCCE and we look forward to working with John and seeing the association prosper in 2011. With a number of plans for the future of HCCE already in the pipeline I believe it will be an exciting year ahead.
