TUI AG, Europe’s leading tourism group, set up a think tank for “Leisure & Tourism“ at the beginning of the year. Aim of the initiative is to have forward-thinking discussions of aspects important to the future tourism industry.
“We want to create an instrument which we can use to identify developments and trends which are especially influential and significant for our industry in the long term so that we can subsequently develop suitable strategic corporate approaches,“ was how TUI Chief Executive Frenzel explained the motivation behind the initiative. He continued: “The social and demographic changes as well as external factors influencing tourism are increasing. We want to confront these topics in good time and discuss today the solutions for tomorrow.“
Amongst other things, discussions will be organised about the future of tourism and travel, analyses of important future questions will be contracted out and experts will be networked under the umbrella of the think tank. On the agenda of the initiative are such topics as the development of prosperity, social media, positioning of holiday regions and new product worlds.
The think tank is being coordinated by Mario Habig, Division Head of TUI AG Group Development, Günther Ihlau, Director of International Relations at TUI AG, as well as by Dr Wolfgang Isenberg, Director of the Thomas Morus Academy. The first symposium is to be held at the end of January. The topic is the internet generation and the ideas and imaginations it has about travel
