International Confex has secured business tycoon, Hamish Taylor, and former BBC controller Lorraine Heggessey as keynote speakers on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd March respectively. In a change to the usual format, popular cricketing charity the Lord’s Taverners will be hosting a panel debate on Thursday 3rd March.
Hamish began his career at Procter & Gamble before becoming a Management Consultant with PriceWaterhouse (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) from 1990 to 1993. Later, he was appointed Head of Brand Management at British Airways, responsible for the introduction of flat beds, moving on to become Chief Executive at Eurostar. Hamish followed this up with a role as Chief Executive Officer for Sainsbury’s Bank before going on to establish his own company in 2004. He has consulted for many of the leading names in industry including Microsoft, RBS, BAA, Kimberley Clark, Ernst and Young and Diageo to name a few.
As the first female controller of BBC1 in 2000, Lorraine has established herself as a formidable force in the media world. She also became the first female CEO of a major production company when she joined talkbackThames in 2005. During her career she has worked closely with some of the UK’s most famous television personalities including Simon Cowell, Alan Sugar and Jonathan Ross. Her successes include launching Strictly Come Dancing and new dramas such as Spooks and Waking the Dead. Lorraine was also responsible for increasing profits at talkbackThames by 50 per cent in her first two years.
Finally, the Lord’s Taverners, a charity which can count on celebrity support from ambassadors from a wide variety of industries will conduct a panel debate. Matthew Patten, Chief Executive of The Lord’s Taverners will host and be joined by Angus Fraser, Director of Cricket, Middlesex CCC, Richard Stilgoe, Broadcaster and trustee of the Lord’s Taverners, Helen Simpson, Head of Volunteering at BT and Simon Parker, Group Portfolio Director, UBM Live.
