Main gathering place for job seekers and career planners in Hall 5.1 – current job vacancies and expert advice from leading tourism companies at the ITB Job Exchange powered by YOURCAREERGROUP and the MeerArbeit project of the Federal Employment Agency – daily programme of informative stage events
Berlin, 16 February 2011 – Why not work in a place where others spend their holidays? Students and career starters interested in the tourism industry can find the perfect job or take a first step on the career ladder at the ITB CareerCenter in Hall 5.1, which this year has expanded yet again. At around a dozen counters qualified personnel managers from leading tourism companies will be inviting job seekers and career planners to meet with them for advice. For the entire duration of the fair job seekers can find out all the latest job information from internet terminals and a vacancy board. Rounding off events will be a free personal career advice service offered by personnel managers of the Steigenberger Hotel Group, who will have advice on how to give a good overall impression and to submit a complete and structured application.
Tourism industry career seekers welcome
At the ITB Job Exchange powered by YOURCAREERGROUP visitors can obtain important information about the tourism industry job market and its wide-ranging career opportunities. Both newcomers and those who already work in the hotel industry, restaurants, catering and the tourism sector can discuss their career prospects with personnel managers and expert advisers from Arabella Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Club Med, the tourism division of REWE Group, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, erlebe-fernreisen, Europcar, the European Hotel Academy, FTI Group, pentahotels, ROBINSON CLUB, Rotana, the Steigenberger Hotel Group, Unister (ab-in-den-urlaub.de) and vamos Eltern-Kind-Reisen.
Visitors in search of a career at sea can obtain first-hand information from the stand of MeerArbeit, the job exchange of the Federal Employment Agency. The Federal Employment Agency in Suhl is the only one in Germany to have signed an exclusive agreement cooperating with nearly every cruise tour operator. Experts from the tourism companies CSM (Columbia Ship Management, e.g. MS Europa), Cruise Services GmbH, seachefs, A-ROSA, Scylla AG and A. Müller Coaching & Consulting will be on hand. What is more, universities from Germany and abroad, technical colleges, job academies, scientific institutes and other service providers will have information on surveys and advanced training courses. EBC Hochschule will be represented with a new trade fair stand, for example, where on 11 March they will present the project results of HEDTOUR ITB Berlin 2011, an international workshop in which nearly 200 students from around Europe took part.
The main gathering place in Hall 5.1. will be the large stage. On all five days of the fair speakers from the tourism industry will be giving talks on how best to embark on a career, and on job and career opportunities. There will be information on Bachelor and Masters degree courses, and members of Arabella Starwood Hotels & Resorts and the tourism division of REWE Group will talk about career opportunities in their respective companies. One of the highlights on Wednesday, 11 March will be the presentation of the 17th ITB Science Award of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Tourismuswissenschaft (DGT) to five young international scientists. The awards will be presented in five categories, including Best Paper on a Practical Topic, Best International Paper, and there will also be special awards, including Best Paper on Sustainability in Tourism. The jury is made up of 40 professors and scientists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
