Menzies Cambridge Hotel and Conference Centre is putting its boot behind Cambridge United Football Club for the 2011 season.

The hotel in Bar Hill has long been established in the local community due to its high profile golf course and excellent gym facilities. 2011 will see the hotel sponsor Cambridge United Football Club through various initiatives including pitch side advertising, home match sponsorship and match day announcements.

The hotel will also be welcoming the ‘first team’ players from the Abbey Stadium on to the hotel’s championship par 72 golf course. Cambridge United Football Club’s team will be following in the footsteps of other high profile sport professionals including Tom Watson, Nick Faldo and Seve Ballesteros who have played the course.

Cambridge United boast a rich 100-year tradition, having been divisional winners in the football league on two occasions and reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup twice. Menzies Cambridge Hotel & Conference Centre has seen a recent major investment programme with all event spaces re-designed to offer an environment conducive to learning and development.  A sophisticated colour palate is balanced with new lighting, state of the art flat screen TVs and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. The hotel has 136 bedrooms, stylish public areas and an AA Rosette restaurant.

Shaun van Looy, general manager said: “We are delighted to be helping United and are looking forward to seeing the players perfect their golf swing.  This is great tie up for us and will help us reinforce our commitment to both the local community and to sport as a whole.”
