Skyscanner’s new ‘all flights everywhere’ iPhone app that allows users to find the cheapest flights on the go, has exceeded all expectations by receiving over 100,000 downloads within just six days of launch.

The free app went live in 23 languages on the afternoon of Thursday 17th February, and by Thursday 24th had been downloaded more than 100,000 times. Uptake has been especially high in the UK, Russia, and also Italy where it has received over 30,000 downloads alone.

The highly anticipated application has been so well received that Skyscanner management has had to completely revise download targets for the project.

Barry Smith, Skyscanner Director of Mobile who oversaw the development of the app commented:

“With 100k downloads in less than a week, the appetite for the Skyscanner All Flights iPhone app has far exceeded our expectations. We will continue to monitor the reviews to get user feedback, but early signs are that we have delivered the functionality that iPhone users want.

“The app has already reached #2 in the App Store for Travel Apps in the UK – as well as being #1 in Italy, Russia and other European markets. Now the hard work begins for us to maintain this growth by continuing to develop a suite of services that will be delivered to the iPhone market, as well as additional support for Android and the other mobile platforms, which is coming shortly.”

The Skyscanner ‘all flights everywhere’ iPhone app is available for free download at the iTunes App store.
