Mysteries of the human brain were revealed last week by renowned scientist, Professor Terrence J. Sejnowski who delivered the 2011 Graeme Clark Oration at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).
Professor Sejnowski is one of the world’s leading brain experts and a pioneer in the field of computational neuroscience.
His oration, The Computational Brain, enthralled the 2000 person audience with its exploration of the complexities of the human brain and what the future has in store for it, from artificial brains to social robots.
The Graeme Clark Oration is an annual public event that was established in 2008 to honour the work of Professor Graeme Clark AC who developed the world’s first bionic ear in Melbourne.
The oration is the showcase event of the ICT for Life Sciences Forum, a network connecting researchers in Melbourne interested in the convergence between biology, computing and engineering.
Convener of the ICT for Life Sciences Forum, Luan Ismahil said “This is a major public science event and makes a significant contribution to the intellectual life of Melbourne.”
