ITB Berlin is undertaking a number of measures to assist visitors arriving at the world’s leading travel trade show. Only S-Bahn services and regional trains are affected.

Berlin, 9 March 2011- No need to panic: following the announcement of a warning strike by Deutsche Bahn and Berlin’s S-Bahn, due to happen Thursday 10 March, from 4 to 10 a.m., ITB Berlin has already taken various measures to minimize the impact of the strike on visitors to the world’s leading travel trade show. In Berlin, U-Bahn, bus and tram services are not affected.

Regularly updated information giving alternative travel options can be found on the ITB Berlin website at www.itb-berlin.com.

Bus shuttles have been set up which will operate from the airports at Tegel and Schönefeld. Visitors arriving at Schönefeld Airport should take the bus marked “SXF” to Bahnhof Südkreuz (time: 20 mins.), where a free shuttle will be available to take them to the exhibition grounds. Capacities on the free ITB Berlin City Shuttle serving the exhibition grounds have also been increased (Line A via Unter den Linden26 / Friedrichstr. – Leipziger Platz and Line B via Wittenbergplatz – Kurfürstendamm). Bus services transferring visitors to the hotels participating in the shuttle service are also guaranteed.

A free bus shuttle has also been set up by ITB Berlin to and from the car park at the Olympic Stadium. Visitors to ITB Berlin can park here and get to the exhibition grounds without delay.

ITB Berlin also advises visitors arriving by train from Germany or abroad to use other forms of transport such as flights or rental cars. Important information for all visitors whose arrival at ITB Berlin may be delayed as a result of the warning strike: as an alternative, trade visitors can make use of the Saturday and Sunday, 12 and 13 March, for their discussions.
