St. Petersburg entered the list of the most popular cities of Europe in 2010

Such information was announced by Valentina Matvienko, the Governor of St. Petersburg.

“According to the results of 2010, the number of the visitors exceeded 5 million people. So, St. Petersburg entered the TOP 10 of the most popular and that’s means the most attractive cities of Europe”, noted the Governor.

The Governor says that it’s planning to finish the construction of Maritime Passenger Terminal on the raised territories of Vasilyevskiy island this year. For the moment the terminal has started to receive sea cruise liners.

Talking about the cooperation with Finland, Valentina Matvienko reminded about the development of transport connections: popular ferry line St. Petersburg-Helsinki and Allegro high-speed train.

Finland is one of the most important investors of St. Petersburg. According to the Governor, St. Petersburg and Finland could jointly meet the crisis and “analyzing the data of the end of last year it’s possible to talk about gradual growth”. source: atorus.ru
