The majority of the Russians never travelled abroad

The majority of the Russian citizens never visited foreign countries. Such information was received from the survey of Public Opinion Fund.

According to the survey, 79% of the Russians never travelled abroad. Such result can be in a manner explained by the fact, that the majority of the citizens of Russia don’t speak any foreign languages (83% of the respondents). The survey was conducted in February 2010, in 100 places from 43 regions of Russia. Just to note, according to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), the Russians performed 39.3 million trips abroad in 2010 (+3 million trips in comparison with 2009). The most popular countries were Turkey, Egypt, China, Finland, Germany and Thailand.
