TMP Tourism Awards commend visitor economy businesses
The Mersey Partnership (TMP) Tourism Awards 2011, which took place last night (Thursday 26th May), saw ACC Liverpool achieve the award for Sustainable Tourism and the BT Convention Centre – part of ACC Liverpool – win the award for Excellence in Business Tourism.
Organised by the official tourist board for the Liverpool City Region, the awards recognise the very best in quality and excellence in the city region’s visitor economy.
The latest honours come in a long list of awards bestowed upon ACC Liverpool over the last 12 months including Eventia’s Venue Event Team of the Year and Exhibition News’ Green Award.
Following this year’s earlier announcement of the development of a £40million exhibition and events complex, the two awards mark another major step in the city’s recognition of the effect that ACC Liverpool, home to Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre, is having on the events industry in the region.
Bob Prattey, CEO ACC Liverpool said, “We are delighted to win both awards which recognise ACC Liverpool as a leader for business tourism and sustainability for the city. The BT Convention Centre has welcomed some of the world’s most influential associations and governmental conferences recently and brought a significant economic impact to Liverpool. This has been a team effort and we are pleased that ACC Liverpool is helping drive notable business to the city”.
