Egencia’s powerful Air Fare Benchmarking tool was awarded a prize at the Business Travel & Meetings Show in Germany
Paris, London, Munich, Brussels – (11th May 2011) – Egencia(r), an Expedia, Inc. company, is pleased to announce that it received the industry award from the German leading trade fair for corporate travel (the “Business Travel & Meetings Show”) for Best Corporate Travel Innovation of 2011. The presentation of air fares, internally developed especially for corporate travellers, received particular recognition. Egencia’s Air Fare Benchmarking ensures a completely new insight regarding booking air tickets and corresponding air fare trends and thus provides cost-optimised corporate travel planning.
“Egencia GmbH is extremely proud that this development received an award. From the very beginning, innovation has been our drive and philosophy and our Air Fare Benchmarking is just one of many examples. Our peerless integrated model – we own our technology and further develop our products ourselves – allows us to react quickly to feedback from our customers and to make ideas a reality,” said Florian Storp, Egencia GmbH Managing Director. “We offer our thanks to our customers for their excellent collaboration. We undertake to further inspire them with innovative products and advancements and to support them proactively in their corporate travel processes.”
With Egencia Air Fare Benchmarking, each Egencia customer is empowered to better assess their air ticket price, by using the booking tool to directly benchmark the selected air fare against the average air ticket price of all of Egencia’s customers. This way, the same routes can be taken into account together with their class of service. Air fares are much easier to compare thanks to this transparent price presentation and thus an excessively high price range on unfamiliar routes can be avoided. In the Egencia platform, information pours in through the integrated booking model both from the internet and from air tickets booked over the telephone. It is possible, especially for travel directors, to compare the average air ticket price for highly travelled flight routes booked by the customer against tickets booked by all of Egencia’s customers for the same route.
Among all the candidates for the Innovation Award, an independent expert jury selected Egencia from the five favourites. The deciding vote for the winner was an online poll, which lasted until 13th April 2011, with well over 1000 voters picking the most innovative contender, and therefore the winner, from the Top Five. Egencia took a clear victory in the online poll with 38% of the votes.
Following a considerable number of product enhancements in 2010, such as the Traveller Security platform, the flexible date display for air travel and online seat reservation, Egencia is continuing its policy of innovation into 2011. With that said, our own mobile application will be available in a few weeks over the mobile internet, not just for the iPhone but then for all smartphones.
