Romanian writer Herta Müller, winner of the 2009 Nobel Prize for Literature, will be at the Book Fair in September. During the fair, she will participate in two seminars.
The theme of the Book Fair for this year is German-language literature under the vignette “Three countries, one language: Germany, Austria and Switzerland.” As one of the high points of the theme, Nobel laureate Herta Müller will participate in two seminars.
Herta Müller will talk about language as ‘home’ (Heimat), and about two more of her books that are now available in Swedish translation. The essay collection Hunger and Silk (published in Swedish as Hunger och siden by Tranan) and her debut book, Nadirs (published in Swedish as Flackland by Wahlström & Widstrand), a collection of short stories published in both an uncensored version and a redacted version.
Herta Müller’s appearance at the Book Fair will be the result of an initiative by and a cooperation with the Romanian Cultural Institute.
Also, it has been known for some time that Nobel laureate Mario Vargas Llosa will also attend the Book Fair.
