On the occasion of the IMEX International Trade Fair in Frankfurt 2011, the Estoril Congress Centre (ECC) will be sponsoring IMEX´s Social Responsibility stand, providing all furniture made of recycled cardboard. This stand is dedicated to sustainability and CSR, and there will be throughout the fair several panels and presentations on best practices.

After winning IMEX’09 Green Exhibitor Award, for “its combination of ingenuity and inventive thinking in stand design with a concerted effort to think outside the box” (as referred to by the judging panel during the Award presentation at IMEX Gala Dinner) this year ECC invites all visitors to place a paper flower on its stand wall, underpinning a personal commitment to reduce carbon footprint. ECC will use cork panels on the floor, one of Portugal’s main export product (100% natural and biodegradable) along with cardboard stand furniture. The stand is provided by EcoWall, manufacturer of 100% ecological stands.

The cardboard stand will be brought back to Estoril to be reused at ECC. Company information will be reduced to one USB, a 4 page leaflet regarding its Green services. All leftover material will also return to Estoril in the end of the fair.

The ECC team also chose to stay at a nearby accommodation, walking 15 minute to and from the IMEX grounds, and offset all carbon emissions from travel, hotel and merchandising transport, with e)mission – a Portuguese carbon company. This business partner is measuring ECC carbon emissions from its activity, within the commitment for 2011 to obtain the ‘emission neutral’ certification.
