The grand finale event, entitled ‘Which Hallyu Star Would YOU Travel With to Korea?’ will take place from May 11th until May 31st. The win grand prizes are include Asiana Airlines round-trip tickets to Korea, hotel vouchers for 1 night’s stay at Walkerhill Hotel, and Korea Pass (prepaid travel expense cards worth KRW 200,000-KRW 500,000).
Since its inception in 2001, VisitKorea, the official website of Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), has provided Korean travel and tourism information. Beginning with typical holiday travel data such as history of Korea, UNESCO heritage in Korea, and Korean holidays, VisitKorea now encompasses diverse tips and news, including shopping in Korea, Korean movie and film locations, vegetarian restaurants in Korea and where to study in Korea. Moreover, such information is disseminated via other online communication channels including social network sites (Facebook, Twitter) and KTO’s new smartphone mobile application. With the plethora of information and the diversity of communication channels, VisitKorea remains the best travel advisor to international visitors coming to Korea.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of VisitKorea, KTO has held a series of events since March. For ‘Lucky 10 Event’ (March 14th – April 15th), KTO published a brief history of VisitKorea, and how to navigate the website as well as receive special services available only to its members. The 1st event was consisted of two different categories-Short quizzes or the most logged in member’s event. 10 winners from each category were randomly chosen to receive gifts from KTO. Next, ‘Pick & Click Your Favorite Picture!’ (April 19th – May 16th), participants were asked to click on their favorite picture from a portfolio that showcases diverse facets of Korea such as culture, nature, food, language, music and festivals. Each entry was automatically submitted for the prize lottery, and tallied up to determine the winning picture to be displayed on the main page of VisitKorea. Prizes for this event included two free vouchers for 1 night’s stay at Seoul Lotte Hotel and 50 other gifts. KTO expects just by participating in these events could provide more information to the visitors of the website, and raise interest in Korean travel and Korean culture on the whole.

This final chapter of the VisitKorea 10th Anniversary Event Series asks participants to vote for their favorite Hallyu star from the list of celebrities in Korea, which has been compiled through the preliminary surveys conducted via social networking sites.
The main theme of the event, Hallyu, is expected to help draw participants from all over the world, as Hallyu itself has proven to be not only the leading cultural code of modern Korea, but also the forefront of the global cultural phenomenon. Now Hallyu is not just a K-pop or Korean drama, but a transmitter of Korean fashion, Korean language, and even a Korean cuisine.
At the end of the event, the votes will be tallied up to rank the Hallyu stars by popularity.
A lucky winner from each of the participant pools that voted for the top three celebrities will be selected randomly to win grand prizes, which include Asiana Airlines round-trip tickets to Korea, hotel vouchers for 1 night’s stay at Walkerhill Hotel, and Korea Pass (prepaid travel expense cards worth KRW 200,000-KRW 500,000). Also Korean traditional souvenirs and various prizes are waiting for the winners to be chosen. Winners of the event as well as the Hallyu star with the most votes will be announced on VisitKorea on June 3rd.
