CANADA & VANCOUVER WINS TOP AWARDS AT IMEX

It was a winning night for Canada and Vancouver at the IMEX annual awards and gala dinner held May 22-24 in Frankfurt. The international exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events brought together exhibitors and attendees from more than 150 countries. Three of the top awards presented at the gala went to Canada:

• The Canadian Tourism Commission won the Site Master Motivator Award, which honours an organization’s high standards of excellence in keeping the industry vibrant and flourishing. The CTC’s Susan Frei, director of International Meetings and Incentives for Washington, DC, accepted the award.

• The Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC) received the Green Suppliers Award, which honours venues that demonstrate best efforts to minimize environmental impact. The VCC’s Claire Smith, vice president of Sales and Marketing, accepted the award.

Tourism Vancouver‘s president and CEO, Rick Antonson, accepted the IMEX Academy Award for The Americas, an award which reflects the tremendous service given to the meetings and incentive travel sector by the recipient.
