Bottoms and Bosoms: 5 Nudist Beaches

Prefer to sun bathe as nature intended? Skyscanner introduces five great places to strip off, slap on (your sun cream), and let it all hang out.

Vera Playa, Spain

Claiming to be ‘the world’s best naturist beach resort’, Vera Playa is mainland Europe’s only all-year round nudist community.

Located in the south east corner of Spain on the Costa De Almeria, there are over 2.5km of glorious sand, and the warm, dry climate draws naturists from all over Europe who come to disrobe and pick up a full body tan.

Incidentally, under Spanish law, Spanish citizens have the right to be naked in any public place, though hopping on the bus in central Barcelona with your privates on display is unlikely to be a hit with the driver. Find flights to Murcia

Vrbosak, Hvar, Croatia

The town of Vrbosak, a deep cove surrounded by olive groves and pine forest, has a long history of naturism, with numerous hidden coves nearby making it an ideal spot to show off your full range of goods to the sun gods.

Most of the beaches are found on the Glavica peninsular, a five minute car drive from Vrbosak; Soline is one of the most popular, with very clean water and smooth rocks for bathing on. The downside of stripping off here is the lack of shade, so do slap on the sun block unless you want to turn your very private parts, very pink. Find flights to Croatia

Wreck Beach, Vancouver, Canada

As their website proudly states, where else in the world can you spend the morning skiing snow and the afternoon baring your buns? Wreck Beach is known for its ‘alternative’ crowd and has a real community vibe, with locals having banded together and saved the beach from attack by bulldozers and concrete since the ‘70s.

As such there are regular events including the annual skinny-dip every July, the ‘Bare Buns Run’, and even a nude art show. Find flights to Vancouver

Studland Bay, Dorset, UK

This somewhat aptly named naturist beach is the UK’s most popular place to bathe in your birthday suit. A glorious slice of natural coastline, it’s been voted the sixth best beach (nude or otherwise) in Britain.

With views of Old Harry Rocks and the Isle of Wight, fine sandy stretches backed by dunes, and a sea which is normally calm, this is Britain’s best place to bare all, although overexposure (to the weather) is a potential hazard on any British beach. Find flights to Bournemouth

Wannsee, Berlin

Just south of the cool and cutting edge city of Berlin, lies Wannsee, an area made up of two lakes, located on the river Havel. Boasting the longest inland sand beach in Europe, it’s one of the most popular places for Berliners to relax and includes a naturist section where people are free to wander around with their wieners (or other foodstuffs) on show.
