More than 5,000 participants in Mugello, for the first time in Italy

The International Mini Meeting (IMM) 2013 dedicated to the famous British car comes to Tuscany for the first time and will gather over 5,000 participants on the shores of the Bilancino Lake from May 17th to 20th 2013. There will be a weekend of celebration that will see the Mugello Valley (Florence) invaded by a myriad of small cars in their extraordinary variety of models and collectibles.

The decision to award Italy the honor of hosting the event was taken by representatives of the international Mini clubs, gathered on June 11th in St. Stephan, Switzerland, during the IMM 2011. The Tuscan destination was the favorite German town of Kaunitz, with 149 votes to 14. The Italian candidacy has been promoted by the Italian committee composed of the Club Mini & Moto Maniaci of Florence, the Cooper Club of Rome and the Ministi Veneti club, with the support of the Firenze Convention Bureau, the Province of Florence, the municipalities of Mugello and some private sponsors.

The event is unprecedented in Tuscany and Italy in general and will involve the municipalities of Scarperia, Barberino, Firenzuola, Borgo San Lorenzo, San Piero a Sieve, Vicchio, Dicomano and the Comunità Montana of Mugello to create a “theme park” dedicated to Mini fans. More than 80 hectares on the north shore of the Bilancino Lake will be divided into specific areas, including: camping, family area, dining, internal market, playground, medical service and a space for car testing.

Satisfaction from the Firenze Convention Bureau Director Carlotta Ferrari: “We worked hard for a long time for this event and we are very happy and satisfied to have been able to win the candidacy and host it in Mugello and in Italy for the first time. The event will bring together fans, but even people who would like to discover the fun world of automotive rally, with a lot special events and activities organized during the week end. I was proud – Ferrari says – to represented Italy at the final presentation in Switzerland last June, during IMM 2011. I would like to thank in particular the Mini & Moto Maniaci Club of Florence and the IMM 2013 Italian Committee for the great support in the candidacy realization“.
