The Russians made a monthly record of the visits to Cyprus last month. 56.4 thousand Russian tourists visited the country in June 2011, announces ATOR Analytical Service.
According to the data of Cyprus Statistics Office, the tourist flow of the Russians increased by 53.4% in June 2011 in comparison with the same period of last year. If to compare with the data of pre-crisis period (June 2008), the tourist flow increased by 91.3%. So the indicator of June 2011 (56.4 thousand people) is a record-breaking for all the years of the travels to Cyprus.
“This year the number of the flights has been increased considerably and the new players entered this market as well. That’s why the tourist flow has been definitely increasing. The sales were good enough in June”, said Alexey Sokolov, ICS Travel Group. A good dynamics of sales can be explained by the general tendency that has been noted for all the European destinations this summer.
Nevertheless, the sales of July are not as optimistic as it was June. In August the price for the holidays will be traditionally increased.
Despite the impressive dynamics of the growth, the Russian tourists didn’t take the 1st place in number of the visits to Cyprus: almost a half of the visitors in June arrived from the UK (46% or 130.5 thousand people). The 2nd place took the Russian market (20%). TOP 3 list closes the Swedish market (15.4% or 15 thousand people). It’s important to note that the number of the foreign tourists in June 2011 decreased by 7.5% in comparison with June 2008. The Russian market showed the most considerable dynamics of all the countries-suppliers of the tourists to Cyprus.
Almost 131.2 thousand Russians visited Cyprus during the first 6 months of this year. At the average the Russians spent 960 Euros in Cyprus during one trip and that was for 200 Euros more than an average indicator of the foreigner this year and for 80 Euros more than the indicator of the Russians last year. Such indicator is the highest possible among the countries-suppliers of the tourist flow to Cyprus this year. atorus.ru
