Between 13 and 16 September, the city of Sopot in Poland will host the 22nd celebration of the Cartoon Forum Polska, a world showcase for future animation projects for TV and new platforms. The pitching sessions will take place at the Sheraton Sopot Conference Centre, a nice and convenient congress centre located right next to the beach and the pier.

The Cartoon Forum is neither a fair nor a festival, but rather a European co-production forum for TV and new platforms animation. The Forum announced 66 sixty lucky titles that will be presented to the seven hundred registered professionals (more than a third of which are buyers).

Cartoon Forum Polska is organized by Cartoon – European Association of Animation Film in collaboration with Studio Miniatur Filmowych Sp. z o.o. One of the partners who support the Forum as the local host is Gdansk Convention Bureau. Our Volunteers for Gdansk – called by Cartoon Forum Toonies – will help in organizing this big event, not only during the event but also during the preparation days and at the airport welcoming arriving guests.

Gdansk Convention Bureau provided organizers with all needed information on recommended restaurants and pubs in Gdansk and Sopot, promotional materials and together with the local PCO – Teja Tur helped them to organize sightseeing tours for participants. They have 4 options: `Walk through the Gdansk Old Town`, `The Road to Freedom in Gdańsk`, `On the Trail of Amber` and `Walk through the Sopot`.

On Thursday 15th September the 2011 Award Ceremony will take place. It will take place in the tent on the beach in front of the Sheraton Sopot Conference Center. The Cartoon d`Or is the European award for the best animated short film of the year. The winner receive a Cartoon Tributes trophy, symbol of the professional recognition from their peers. The Farewell Party of the Forum will take place in Gdańsk Shipyard Centre.

This is the first time that the Cartoon Forum is organized in Poland and we are all sure that this is a great opportunity to promote our cities and the whole region.
