DALLAS, SCOTTSDALE and LONDON (September 21, 2011) – Pegasus Solutions today announced that for the second consecutive year, it made the InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology. The 2011 list was revealed at a gala awards ceremony on Sept. 13 at the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, Dana Point, Calif.
Pegasus was recognized this year for its next generation IT solution, ShoppingNG, which allows hotels to address online shopping challenges through improvements to their existing environment, enhancing shopping transactions and enterprise distribution.
“We are thrilled to be named to this prestigious list for the second year in a row,” said Mike Kistner, chief executive officer of Pegasus Solutions. “ShoppingNG has allowed us to handle a more than 40% increase in transaction volume, adding a distinct transactional efficiency and improvements to data caching on our end. It’s an honor to be recognized for our contribution to the industry by the broader technology community.”
On an operational level, ShoppingNG has significantly improved the efficiency of moving hotel shopping and booking transactions through the hotel value chain. Hotels have enjoyed richer data and streaming message response, which in turn has increased conversion rates and generated more revenue.
Hotel customers have also extended the life of legacy central reservation systems (CRS) by reducing the number of transactions the systems needed to process. Hotels are now able to keep up with geometric increases in transaction volume without the need for multi-million dollar reservation system upgrades.
“For 23 years, the InformationWeek 500 has chronicled and honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. “In this day and age, however, being innovative isn’t enough. Companies and their IT organizations need to innovate faster than ever before to stay a step or two ahead of their customers, partners, and competitors. This year’s ranking placed special emphasis on those high-octane business technology innovators.”
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation’s most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. Top winners have included: The Vanguard Group, CME Group, Conway, National Semiconductor, Kimberly-Clark, Hilton Hotels and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
