ABPCO’s Conference Cloud campaign calling for free Wi-Fi for conference delegates continues to gain momentum, with over 40 venues signed up to the scheme and some 200 signatures on the petition since it launched in August.
The campaign aims to highlight the increasing importance of offering Wi-Fi to delegates attending conferences as a fundamental requirement, particularly given the growing use of interactive tools such as Twitter and others for audience participation at conferences.
Recent venues to join the campaign include Conference Centres of Excellence, Newcastle United Football Club and Close House hotel and Golf.
ABPCO Chair Michael Foreman, said: “The Conference Cloud campaign has highlighted a key issue for PCOs and event organisers. We know that many conference venues have been reluctant to offer Wi-Fi free of charge, but it is fast becoming a fundamental requirement of everyday life for business. We are delighted that so many venues have already shown their support and look forward to our forthcoming round table debate with venues to discuss the details of what is needed to make this a reality.”
Details of the forthcoming round table debate to be held at Twickenham Experience, the first venue to sign up to the campaign, will be released in the next few weeks. Venues, PCOs and individuals are invited to sign up and join the debate via the campaign website at www.theconferencecloud.co.uk, ABPCO’s Linked In group or on Twitter using hashtag #confcloud.
