Madrid 13th October 2011. Spanish companies from the tourist industry that are interested in taking part in the third edition of INVESTOUR Africa, which is due to take place on 20th January 2011 as part of the FITUR 2012 Trade Conferences, can now present their applications via the fair’s web page: http://www.ifema.es/ferias/fitur/investour/index.html
This forum, which is organised by FITUR in collaboration with the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) and Casa Africa, mainly seeks to promote meetings between representatives of the African tourist market and potential Spanish partners and investors, based on a sustainable tourism model that also serves as a means of development. On this occasion, East and Central Africa, represented by the regional blocks known as the EAC or East African Community (encompassing Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, the Republic of Rwanda and the Republic of Burundi), together with CEMAC, the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (which brings together Cameroon, the Congo, Gabon, the Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea and Chad), are the geographical areas that have been invited to present their tourism potential and their current tourist projects.
INVESTOUR Africa will organise a series of B2B (Business to Business) Meetings between potential Spanish investors and top representatives from the African tourist industry, including both the public and the private sectors. These professionals will work according to a previously-agreed schedule based on the participants’ priorities. In this respect, the heads of different African projects will be able to explain their ideas, as well as searching for financing in order to create or improve tourist infrastructures. The participants will also seek to guarantee the transfer of technology within the hotel and catering sector. All of these initiatives will necessarily work towards introducing a sustainable tourism model, one that effectively preserves nature and protects the autochthonous cultures of these different regions.
The INVESTOUR Programme will also host the staging of a series of conferences at which participants will be able to learn about various success-stories involving collaborative projects within this field.
The consolidation of INVESTOUR is reflected by the participation figures achieved at the last edition. In this respect, 200 people took part, including eleven African Tourism Ministers. The event also featured the presence of some 35 countries, with a total of 141 projects being presented.
