An Ideal Budgeting Tool

Thomson has launched a new suite of Travel Money Cards, including new Sterling and Australian Dollar products with versions in each currency.  The new pre-loaded currency cards join Thomson’s collection of Euro and US Dollar Travel Money Cards and can be used in exactly the same way to either purchase goods or withdraw cash while abroad.

Thomson is expanding its Travel Money Card services to make it even easier for customers to save for their holiday money and ensure they can spend it in the safest, most secure and convenient way possible.   Better still, if the customer is due to depart in two or more, they can apply for a personalised card.  Personalising the card makes it easier to use in case there are locations that accept MasterCard, but have no Chip and Pin facilities.

A recent study by Thomson found that despite the current climate, 57% of people polled said they spend whatever they like once they get away and don’t budget their expenditure. Over a third of respondents also stated they did not save for their holiday money. Thomson Travel Money Cards can help customers prevent any nasty bank balance surprises when returning home from holiday. They enable customers to pre-load their Travel Money Card, in various instalments throughout the year.  Alternatively a customer can pre-load their holiday budget onto the card in one transaction before departure. Whilst away it provides an excellent way for customers to keep a reign on their holiday budget.

The MasterCard branded Travel Money Cards can be used to purchase goods at over 29 million locations worldwide, or withdraw cash at over 1.4 million ATM’s.

The Australian prepaid card market is well established and travellers to this region traditionally take higher than average amounts of funds with them, therefore it’s even more important to safeguard your money.  Being PIN protected and not linked to a bank account, the Travel Money Card does just that.  Australians are used to accepting prepaid cards and in addition to ease of use, the new Travel Money Card offers the additional benefits of security, and low cost.

The sterling Travel Money Card is the ideal card of choice for use in countries outside of the Euro, US Dollar or Australian Dollar zones.  Just like the other Travel Money Cards, it can be used to obtain cash from ATM’s and to buy goods.  Security again is a major benefit as it ’ s not linked to a specific bank account, is PIN protected and there is a refund service, meaning it’s far more secure to use than UK credit or debit cards.
