Lisbon – AIM Group International team member and Lisbon Managing Director, Susann Tocca, has recently attended the ABAI congress in Granada, Spain in her capacity as Cooperative Executive Board member and Manger of International Relations for Centro ABC Real in Portugal.   “AIM Group team members not only implement important events, we attend them as well,” Tocca explains.  “Promoting awareness of a new therapy that helps autistic children is close to our heart and our team has been working for the past few years to support this cause.”

Centro ABC Real has been operating since 2008 as the first therapy centre for Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA).  ABA has provided to be extremely effective in autistic children when started at a young age but also with older children to help them gain greater autonomy.  Behavioural Analysis therapy has the highest rating of effectiveness and scientific evidence that helps children suffering from autism and development disorders.  Recently, Centro ABIC Real, has been quoted at the Social Stock Exchange which will enable them to promote their research to a wider audience and gain greater visibility.

Tocca’s attendance to the Sixth International Conference of the Association of Behavioural Analysis International (ABAI) is a further help to encourage the dissemination of behaviour analysis beyond Portugal and to facilitate collaboration among behaviour analysts internationally.  “The subject of autism isn’t widely discussed.  But, we find that as we discuss our work supporting this NGO and their related events, people are more apt to share their situations with autism,” shares Tocca.  “It continues to amaze us how many people are suffering from these issues and how much we are seeing that behavioural analysis helps them.”

The AIM Lisbon team not only spreads the word about the mission of their social partner, Centro ABC Real, they also help them organise events from Christmas parties to congresses and to raise funds for their activities.  AIM Group now looks to expand their support of this cause internationally and to continue to identify more social issues to offer their support and expertise.
