The ultimate Plaisirs d’Hiver

Once again this year, hotel owners in Brussels are lining up to contribute to the success of the Plaisirs d’Hiver, with a whole host of lovely surprises. More and more hotels are offering their national and international guests a “Plaisirs d’Hiver” package, which includes an overnight stay, discounts and offers as well as free gifts, all in association with the event. By offering this package, in partnership with VisitBrussels, hoteliers are helping to spread the word about the Plaisirs d’Hiver.

Rodolphe Van Weyenbergh, secretary general of the Brussels Hotels Association (BHA) has announced that: “at the beginning of December 2010, 1,589 Plaisirs d’Hiver packages were sold by hotels. This year, that number has already reached 1,730 and the month isn’t even over yet! This highlights the importance of the event for the industry, and especially for the industry’s customers. And this is just the visible side of the success, as occupation rates show that many other room bookings during this period are linked to a visit to the Plaisirs d’Hiver”.

And to continue with the lovely surprises, on Sunday 18th December from 3pm, the ice skating troupe from Quebec, “Patin libre” will be offering an introduction to freestyle ice skating. With a demonstration and a ‘battle’ to top off the afternoon, followed by a modern figure skating show at 6.30pm. This young team from Quebec breathe new life into ice skating, using breakdancing, circus techniques, silent film and skateboarding for a breathtaking performance! Jumping over barrels, somersaults, fire-eating and ‘battles’, the 5 professional skaters combine mind-blowing acrobatics with beautiful poetry.
