The Municipal House is one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings not only in Prague, but in Europe generally. For 100 years it has been the centre of cultural and social life of local residents and visitors to the capital city. For this reason, the celebrations will include a number of both cultural and culinary events.
The French Restaurant in Prague’s Municipal House boasts of one of the most splendid interiors in Europe. Its cuisine was already famous at the time of the opening of the Municipal House, one hundred years ago. Therefore, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the opening, the French Restaurant Art Nouveau has prepared a special anniversary menu which is historically linked to the dishes and drinks that were served here 100 years ago. The menu has been prepared by the French Chef Jacques Auffrays, the current head of the team of cooks. Dining does not include just the outstanding menu, but also the look and setting of the festive table, including the historical inventory. Moreover, the celebrations will bring back to the dining tables the famous drinking set of the Moser glassworks – Splendid, which incidentally was also created a hundred years ago.
Simultaneously with this anniversary, the Municipal House, in cooperation with the French Restaurant Art Nouveau, organizes the 1st International Wedding Fair, under the auspices of the Mayor of Prague Mr. Bohuslav Svoboda and Mrs. Blanka Matragi. The intention is to make this fair a traditional and recurring cultural event which would further attract the attention and increase the interest in such a significant cultural monument in Prague, which is the Municipal House. The cultural event will culminate in the “live wedding” which will take place after the evaluation of an SMS competition. The wedding of the winning couple will be performed by the Mayor of Prague Mr. Bohuslav Svoboda right at the fair. The prize will include wedding gifts worth 1 million CZK.
The celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Municipal House will become a part of Prague’s offer of cultural events at the time of the Advent, visit and dine and taste the best of Prague gastronomy at the French Restaurant Art Nouveau.
