Once again this year, FITUR aims to offer the weekend public the best range of options when it comes to planning for their next holidays in the most entertaining manner. In this respect, on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd January, travel enthusiasts will discover that the fair provides the very best venue for them to have some fun, at the same time as they share their latest experiences with other globe-trotters or learn about new tourism products and destinations.
Among other initiatives, FITUR will organise the third edition of the Travel Gathering, in collaboration with the travellers’ social networking site,Minube.com, which will bring together all kinds of tourists so that they can compare different recommendations and routes. Meanwhile, another section of the fair, Traveller’s Corner, will present the secrets of the most attractive destinations to members of the public through a series of games and activities.
In order to enjoy a flavour of their next holidays, visitors can also tour the world in the halls at FITUR thanks to the Travel Gymkhana. The public can choose from among a series of different routes to complete the stamps in their Passport and qualify to win a series of attractive prizes.
On Sunday, to mark the end of the fair, a photography exhibition entitled “Your Favourite Corners” will be staged, where more than 100 pictures chosen for the competition organised annually by Minube.com and Canon will be placed on show.
Furthermore, the Second Interactive Folklore Marathon will take place on the weekend, an event that will enable travellers to discover the artistic and cultural heritage of the different countries and regions present at the fair. Under the heading of “Folklore Art with Us,” exhibitors will invite visitors at FITUR to take part in a series of dance, handicrafts and percussion workshops over several morning sessions, so that, in the afternoon, they can participate in the Folklore Gala and demonstrate to the audience everything they have learned.
Alongside the activities organised by FITUR itself, visitors can also enjoy the ideas proposed by the exhibitors participating at the fair. Thus, the Polish Tourist Board will invite tourists to discover the country’s cuisine and enjoy its famous Sobieski liqueurs, whilst the Japanese stand will offer visitors the opportunity to sample the country’s traditional Sake and learn about the art of shodo, traditional Japanese calligraphy, as well as enjoying Cosplay shows and Manga readings. Visitors to the stand will also be able to take a photo of them alongside a Samurai. These demonstrations seek to seduce tourists with the appeal of the country’s many-thousand-year-old culture.
The world of dance will play a starring role at the Argentinean stand, which will offer a series of tango exhibitions on the weekend, whilst Chile will introduce visitors to the ancestral culture of the Rapa Nui, inhabitants of the mysterious Easter Island. A number of native dancers from the Island will stage a series of exhibitions of their regional dances, whilst a local artist will invite visitors to decorate their bodies with traditional Easter Island “kiare” pictures. Dance will also feature prominently at the Peruvian stand, and, alongside these demonstrations, the public will be able to sample Pisco Sour and Algarrobita cocktails, as well as enjoying exhibitions by an acrobatic barman. Visitors will also be able to take part in prize draws.
