This year, MITT (Moscow International Travel and Tourism) is pleased to welcome the Region of Central Macedonia as the event sponsor for the 19th edition of the largest travel and tourism exhibition in Russia. The event takes place from 21st – 24th March 2012.
Dionysis Psomiadis, Deputy Governor commented:“We wish to promote the Region of Central Macedonia as a tourism destination to the Russian tourist market, and increase the incoming tourists from Russia. After our presence at MITT 2011, there was an increase of 45% in arrivals to Central Macedonia from Russia, and we want to increase the number of Russian people to our country”.
“Central Macedonia is an area of inexhaustible charm, where one will return again and again. It has everything that makes a holiday destination unforgettable – cosmopolitan towns and cities, contemporary tourist infrastructure, conference centres, internationally-acclaimed cultural events and, above all, the warm smiles and hospitality of its people”.
The Region of Central Macedonia consists of seven prefectures that include some of the most visible monuments of ancient Greece, like Vergina the place of Alexander the Great. Mount Athos and Mount Olympos are also placed in Central Macedonia. By participating at MITT, there is the opportunity to inform all Russian people about the beaches of Chalkidiki and Pieria, the luxury hotels that exist in all of the cities of Central Macedonia, and about the tasteful and traditional Greek dishes which are served in Macedonia.
Zeljka Tomljenovic, Event Manager, ITE Group Plc, said “Russian outbound tourists are a target audience for many countries looking to expand their tourism markets. As Russians seek more exotic destinations and have high spending powers, they are sought after by many countries. We wish the region of Central Macedonia a successful show in promoting themselves to this fast-growing market”.
