Nick de Bois, MP, and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Events in the UK, will be this year’s keynote speaker at the IMEX in Frankfurt Opening Ceremony on May 22nd.
The events industry is a subject close to the politician’s heart and experience. Before he became involved in politics, de Bois was in the exhibition, conference and events industry and set up his own company in 1990, which is now run by his wife. He understands the opportunities it presents locally, regionally, nationally and internationally and also the pressures and misunderstandings this ‘hidden’ industry can sometimes be subject to. de Bois will also speak at the IMEX Politicians Forum together with Kevin Murphy, Chief Executive of ExCeL London; which this year takes place at the prestigious Villa Kennedy (a Rocco Forte Hotel) and is set to greet 70 meetings industry leaders and 30 politicians from around the globe.
de Bois also features in a special promotional video, produced by the IMEX team in conjunction with International Meetings Review, which makes the case for greater communication and collaboration between politicians and the meetings industry in order to realise the full economic, social, cultural, academic and other benefits that the industry produces. Destinations and membership associations are being invited to use the video to invite their local politicians to the Forum.
The IMEX Politicians Forum is co-organised by ECM (European Cities Marketing) and AIPC (International Association of Congress Centres) and held under the auspices of JMIC (Joint Meetings Industry Council). It is supported by the German Convention Bureau (GCB), the Frankfurt Convention Bureau, Messe Frankfurt, International Meetings Review (IMR), Brähler and Sixt.
