Gdansk Convention Bureau created a mobile application for tablets and smartphones. The advantage of Gdansk the app – GCBeVENTS is its availability for all mobile systems: Android, iOS (iPhone), Blackberry and Windows Mobile. The premiere of app prototype will be held at IMEX business tourism fair in Frankfurt, May 22-25, 2012.
The app allows delegates to view all information prepared by the event organizer: detailed agenda with the possibility to personalize the program (choose your own path from parallel sessions), urgent changes in the programme, information on session and key note speakers. The only requirement is the Internet access, that Gdansk’s venues offer free of charge. Many of the app functionalities work offline. Gdańsk Convention Bureau team when designing the application was very serious about improving the communication between delegates, speakers and organizers.
GCBeVENT functionalities:
. list of delegates, speakers (connected with facebook, linkedin and twitter account)
. conference agenda (session, speakers, room, time) – possibility to create your own personalized agenda
. conference venue (accessibility, floor plan, etc.)
. map, with all the venues linked to conference, hotels, restaurant, POI
. public transportation, transfers
. sponsor zone, possibility to create quizzes
. post session evaluation forms
“In our opinion, conference event application are crucial for international meetings. Delegates want to use new technologies.” – says Anna Gorska, Gdańsk Convention Bureau CEO. “GCB eVENT will be the added value for the congress organizers interested in hosting their events in Gdansk and region. They will receive a modern tool that will facilitate their events. The app reduces cost of the conference, since organizer no more need to print materials. GCBeVENT is the mobile application available for all mobile systems. It seems that once again Gdansk is the leader of innovation. GCB has already been awarded as the Leader of Innovation and Development.
The app developer is DeSmart, company located in Gdynia. The application will be tested during conferences held this summer in Gdansk. Full version will be available in September.
