The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has again been announced a finalist in the AIPC Apex World’s Best Convention Centre Awards.
This is the sixth time MCEC has been named a finalist, taking out Best Convention Centre in 2000, and is one of only 18 finalists worldwide.
The 2012 winner and top three centres from around the world will be announced at the AIPC Conference in Amsterdam next Tuesday 3 July.
MCEC’s chief executive Peter King said, “It’s a real coup that our clients’ experiences have attributed to our announcement as a finalist in these esteemed awards and we are thankful for their feedback.
“The AIPC Apex Award provides global recognition of MCEC and positions Melbourne as the leading destination for business events,” King said.
The awards are conducted blindly by international market research firm Ipsos and based on customer surveys evaluating the venue’s spaces, food and beverage, technology and audio visual, event management and destination itself.
MCEC’s entry involved supplying a list of 49 business events held at the venue between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2011 including national and international congresses, conventions and conferences.
The International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) is the world’s leading body for convention and exhibition centres and the AIPC Apex Award recognise excellence in management and operation.
