Australia’s leading convention bureau, Business Events Sydney (BESydney), has continued to recruit industry leaders to newly formed roles following the company’s recent restructure. Joanne Sollom will join the company as Head of Client Services today and Oliver Philpot will assume the newly created role of Head of Bidding and Strategic Partnerships on 10 September.

Joanne brings to her role a wealth of experience in the business event industry, including direct conference management, strategic planning and operations management specifically for Birmingham Forward and Birmingham Future, the city’s professional services organisation that created and organised events for the business sector in the West Midlands region in the United Kingdom.

Oliver is a well-respected leader in the tourism and events industry having held roles at Tourism Queensland, Virgin Blue Holidays and most recently as the CEO of Central Coast Tourism. Oliver is also the current Chairperson of the Australian Tourism Export Council NSW branch.

Lyn Lewis-Smith, CEO of BESydney comments, “Both Joanne and Oliver are passionate, respected professionals. People are so important to the success of our company and I am excited to welcome two new team members who show such drive and an unrivalled understanding of the changing business events landscape. Our industry is all about people and we are determined to bring together the right minds to deliver short term opportunities to our Strategic Partners and Members and also achieve our long term strategic goals.

I look forward to joining the team and working with the organisation’s Strategic Partners in this newly created role to secure significant business events for Sydney.”
