CWT’s mobile app recognized by GBTA’s 2012 Innovation Awards

AMSTERDAM – CWT To Go TM , Carlson Wagonlit Travel’s (CWT) mobile app, won this year’s Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) award for innovation of the year in the category of “Outstanding apps.” This category includes applications that help business travelers make best use of their time while traveling. Travelers voted for their favorite products and CWT To Go was the winning app from a shortlist of eleven nominees.

Available exclusively to CWT travelers worldwide via Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone devices, CWT To Go provides automatic synchronization of offline and online CWT bookings, flight notifications, access to relevant trip-related information, and much more. CWT To Go was developed with CWT’s e-Commerce partner, Rearden Commerce.

“We are delighted that CWT To Go has been recognized in this way, particularly as business travelers thselves voted for the award. We are continually looking at new ways to delight travelers by making sure they have the services they need at their fingertips; CWT To Go is a great example of that”, said Andrew Winterton, President Suppliers, Products and Technology for CWT.

CWT recently reached out to those travelers using CWT To Go to measure their levels of satisfaction with the app and to find out what new features they would like to see. CWT saw positive results to questions on satisfaction, with over 82 percent of users declaring they would recommend the app to a colleague.

Respondents indicated that the mobile services they value and use most are those that increase their convenience and efficiency during a trip. Travelers rank automatic itinerary synchronization as the most important mobile feature, with access to flight notifications and alerts and mobile check-in as the next most popular.

“The vast majority of travelers use apps to help increase productivity and reduce stress – they are looking for apps with features that continue to give th more control over their travel experience. This type of insight is essential to help keep our products in line with what travelers need”, commented Winterton. “Mobile technology is an integral part of our strategy; we are constantly looking at how it can best be adapted to meet the needs of travelers.”
